Obedience Training Courses

At A1 K9 we offer various dog obedience courses - residential, one-to-one or group. Our residential dog obedience training course is four

weeks in duration and your dog stays with us in our purpose built K9 accommodation, where it will be lovingly cared for and trained by one of our experienced trainers.

For dog owners living within our locality we run weekly courses for owners with young pups, basic obedience classes for dogs of all ages and intermediate/advanced obedience classes for those wishing to take their dogs levels of control that little bit further.

Puppy Socialisation Classes

Undoubtedly, early socialisation courses prove to be a very good foundation for young dogs helping them to interact with both people and

other animals, thus helping to avoid many problems such as dog aggression and nervousness of unfamiliar people.

Our puppy classes (run on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 3pm) have proved a big hit with often upwards of 2o people with their

pups attending each class.

We actively encourage the dogs to mix off lead at the beginning and end of the class and cover basic leadwork as well as answering many

questions that are raised by a number of the novice dog owners that attend.

Unlike many other establishments and training clubs we are fortunate to have both indoor and outdoor facilities and therefore come rain or shine, winter or summer our dog training classes run irrespective and they just keep growing in popularity.

One to One Training

This type of training is sometimes favoured by those who are living in close proximity to our training centre, where dogs and handlers are trained in the above disciplines by one of our instructors on a one-to-one basis.

The amount of lessons required is largely dependent upon the ability and aptitude of the dog's owner/handler, and requires commitment on the part of the handler to practice between lessons - these normally take place on a weekly basis.

Group Classes

Our group obedience classes are held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at our facility just outside Swansea.

Originally starting as one class, we now operate seven group classes per week four basic, two intermediate and one advanced to accomodate the growing numbers.

There are a maximum of 12 dogs in any group class, the average being 10 and they are normally taken by Gaynor Probert MBIPDT and she is assisted by either one or two of our other team members.

The courses run on a rolling six week cycle, and cover all of the basic and intermediate obedience as mentioned on the obedience page.

We operate the BIPDT National Code assesments and our clients tend to achieve very good results.

A1 K9 Group obedience training classes are also good for socialising your dog.

We get dogs of all different shapes sizes and ability in our group classes and many of our customers are surprised how quickly their dogs pick up the various exercises.

The group environment also helps those dogs that are lacking in confidence and helps to settle them round other dogs and unfamiliar people helping them to be more sociable.

We offer agility classes for those who wish to teach their dogs basic agility - I believe the owners enjoy this as much as the dogs.
